Repel mosquitoes while gardening with quick, convenient insect repellent wipes. |
How do I fight mosquitoes, and keep them from biting me? When I am outdoors, I have problems with all types of biting pests, so I use several types of repellent. This includes sprays, electronic devices, citronella candles and outdoor incense sticks, whatever I can find. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten any repellent plants this year.
One product I've found to be very useful is Repel Mosquito Repellent Wipes
. They are so convenient to use without having to watch where on my body and how much I spray. Rather than using aerosol to spray my hand, and then apply to my face, ears and neck, I use the wipe to quickly apply the solution.
I have some OFF! Deep Woods Insect Repellent Dry
, and though it's powdery, I have to take care when spraying it, because it can still make me cough and sneeze. The Cutter Skinsations Insect Repellent
that I use sometimes is better, because it's a pump spray. I only use it for light, quick jobs though, or for when I sit out to enjoy nature.
For gardening, weed-eating, brush-clearing,and other yard work that requires being at the mercy of West Nile and Zika virus mosquitoes, and other pests, wipes like Repel are best for me.
I hate that they have DEET, and I'd like to fight the insects through green methods, but I just don't know how. Some natural mixtures have short shelf lifes, so have to be prepared right before use, and I just don't have the time to do that whenever I need to be outdoors. I haven't had time to research if there is something green that would replace DEET either. I have a Pinterest board titled Die, Mosquito, Die!, where I pin anything that helps with the fight.
So, I apologize for recommending a chemical to repel mosquitoes. If you have any suggestions, please comment.
